Is happiness something that you find or does it find you?  What makes you happy?  A person(true love), yourself, materialistic items, spiritual enlightenment….?

Happiness, in my experience, is something that you find. I think you have to actually seek it out. In our world there is so much unhappiness to see without even trying. With that in your face constantly you must seek the light! A person can only bring to you the ability to feel your own happiness. Happiness is a feeling. People can share feelings…but someone cannot MAKE you feel something, you have to allow it. Can someone make you jealous? If jealousy is a feeling you never naturally experienced, can someone bring it to you and say, “There, now you are jealous” ?

Happiness is something that originates within… of course, we all have the capacity to feel happy. And what about spiritual enlightenment? Ah, now there is the answer! Man is both a mortal being and a spiritual being. Deny it. I dare you! Only when we become spiritually enlightened can we experience anything close to the happiness of which we might dream. True happiness, in life, I believe, is constantly fed by the spirit. Material wealth and even physical satiety might make you temporarily happy, but oh how quickly it can be taken away! The bottom line is this:

Happiness is found within your self…and is fed by the spirit.

I like the way you think TieDi. I have only a slightly different (and shorter) view of it…

Happiness is different for every one, you can search for it and find it, but in my experience it is even better and lasts longer if it finds you first. All you can do to direct it is live in the moment and make choices that are right for you (and your children) and happiness will follow. :)
